Essaouira (Day 4, Morocco)

BOOM...
Silence...
More Silence...
Sound of Rain

What is this sequence?

The first is the sound of Atlantic waves, under 45 knot winds, hitting the retaining wall below our riad at night.

Next is the sound of silence as the sea recedes into the dark.

The last is the sound of the original wave falling from the sky, and lashing across the streets in the wind.

Not exactly peaceful - and dad nearly wet the bed for fear of his upcoming windsurfing lesson - praying all night that the ocean would recede, and the wind take a tranquilizer.

Here Rio and Ila frolic in the morning - seperated by a thin sheet of glass from the eternal, cloudless storm of Essaouira - while dad is obviously behind a camera, rather than holding for dear life to a surf board.

Wait? Isn't that our Ila in a strange man's arms?

The previous shot was taken from the back of a camel. Here Rio looks down, contemplating whether to repurchase her baby sister.

BOOM!
Silence...
More Silence...
